Greenwich Titans are proud to announce that the club has officially achieved Level 1 Accreditation under Basketball England’s Club Standards and Benefits programme. This prestigious recognition reflects the club’s commitment to providing a safe, structured, and high-quality environment for players, coaches, and the wider basketball community.
Raising Standards, Securing the Future
Basketball England’s Club Standards and Benefits package introduces a nationally recognised framework that aims to protect the integrity of the sport while enhancing player experiences across the country. At the core of this initiative is a drive to support clubs in aligning with Sport England’s expectations and the Child Protection in Sport Unit (CPSU) safeguarding framework.
Level 1 – Accredited Club status is mandatory for all clubs wishing to enter the Junior National Basketball League (Jnr. NBL) from the 2025/26 season, and Greenwich Titans are proud to be among the first to meet these standards.
What Level 1 Accreditation Means
To achieve this accreditation, Greenwich Titans demonstrated compliance across several key areas:
- A formal club constitution and development plan
- A governing committee structure with clearly defined leadership roles
- Appointment of a qualified Club Welfare Officer, trained in safeguarding through Basketball England
- Adoption of key Basketball England policies including ED&I, Data Protection, Safeguarding, Whistleblowing, Safer Recruitment and Disciplinary Code
- Sound financial management, operating through an independent club account
“This recognition means a great deal to our entire club community,” said Ashley Thomas, Club Director. “It reflects not just what happens on the court, but also the serious, values-led work we do behind the scenes to ensure our players are safe, supported, and given every opportunity to grow.”
Benefits for the Club and Its Members
Achieving Level 1 Accreditation unlocks several valuable benefits for Greenwich Titans, including:
- Eligibility to enter the Jnr. NBL from 2025/26 onwards
- Access to Basketball England funding grants and support with external applications
- Exclusive access to Basketball England programmes, webinars, and marketing resources
- Dedicated support from Basketball England’s Club Development Manager and expert staff
Looking Ahead
Greenwich Titans’ achievement of Level 1 status is just the beginning. The club is now aiming to work towards becoming a Level 2 – Leading Club, a distinction that recognises even higher standards and continued excellence in governance, development, and community impact.
This accreditation is a stepping stone and we are excited to keep building, keep raising standards, and most importantly, keep delivering for our players, families, and the wider community.”
As Greenwich Titans look forward to the next chapter, we do so with pride in our progress and a firm commitment to continued improvement—on and off the court.
