About us

History

Greenwich Titans Basketball Club started in 2012, the aim was to offer opportunities for residents in Greenwich Borough to play basketball, no matter what their level of ability. This has proved to be a success and the club has successfully integrated itself throughout Greenwich Borough by establishing strong links with educational institutions and Greenwich Council.

Greenwich Titans aspires to live up to 6 Core Values:

Teamwork
Integrity
Trustworthy
Accountability
Nurturing talent
Service to the community

Titans Today

The club has grown rapidly from 10 to over 150 members actively participating on a weekly basis, this growth in membership has led to 4 national league teams being established for the 2013/14 season, a separate women’s session and additional sessions catering for primary schools.

With a strong school network and supported of key partners we have been able to develop core competencies that separate us from other clubs in London, allowing the children to benefit from the support and structure needed to develop in a safe environment.

The coaches and volunteers at Greenwich Titans are both CRB checked and First Aid qualified and parents are always invited to come along and participate.

Our Vision

Greenwich Titans wishes to see more junior players making the progression into senior local and national league basketball. Eventually we would like to enter a team in all age groups for both male and female players.

  • Provide employment opportunities with courses on refereeing, coaching and officiating.
  • Raise the profile of healthy living and eating, by partnering with other initiatives in schools
  • Provide volunteering opportunities.
  • Develop a girls U17 national league team ready to compete in the 2021/22 season.

We would like to encourage people within the local area to get back into sport, we aim to achieve this with the support of established and proposed local businesses, enabling us to be prominent and pro-active and at the heart of the local community.

We plan to increase the membership and participation within the club and also to create sustainable opportunities for competition at county, regional, national and world level. We will manage the Club in a way that is sympathetic to and where possible, enhances the views of all members.
